Click to View Gallery Wreck of the Carnatic, Abu Nuhas, Egypt
The Carnatic was a typical steam sailing vessel of the 1860's. Built by Samuda Bros at their site at the Isle of Dogs, London. The Carnatic left Suez on September 12th 1869 with 230 on board including 37 passengers. The Carnatic struck coral at 01.30 in the morning. After grounding all hands remained on board for a further two days the ship suddenly broke up and 27 people drowned while the survivors had to swim to the nearby Shadwan Island.

Wrecks & Reefs in Egypt - 10 September 2010
Another visit to Egypt in August to try to dive some of the wrecks missed last trip. This time the weather was much improved so I was able to visit the Carnatic & the Rosalie Moller, plus the opportunity for some more dives on the Thistlegorm & the Salem Express. The trip then continued on...
